## Extract text from an image with OCR

A photo of a printed page, a screenshot of a contract, or a picture of a whiteboard all contain text you cannot select or search until someone types it out. Image to Text reads the picture and turns the words in it into text you can copy, search, and edit, which saves you retyping a page by hand.

Set the language before you run it, or leave it on the auto-detect default and the tool reads the image first to pick the right language on its own. Over ninety-five languages are supported individually, and you can select more than one at once if a single image genuinely mixes two languages, such as a bilingual sign or menu. Once the text comes out, download it as a plain text file for quick copying elsewhere, or as a Word document if you want to keep some structure to edit further.

Recognition quality depends heavily on the source image: a sharp, well-lit, right-side-up photo reads far more reliably than a blurry or heavily skewed one, and very small or stylized fonts can trip up any language setting. This tool handles one image at a time rather than a batch, so a stack of related pages needs to go through one by one. Your upload runs on the servers over an encrypted connection and is deleted automatically well within the hour.
